Today turned out to be a very special day for me. I started out with a grueling city council meeting; most time was spent on the upcoming budget year. Our City Clerk painted a very bleak look at what to expect. Our revenues are at the 2005 amount and our cost is at the present time, increasing daily.
I got home about 1:00 pm and ate lunch quickly. Then the fun really began, I took my grandson Luke for a tour of the Gene Gallo Fire Station in downtown Bradenton. His first question as he got out of my truck was, “Paw Paw do you still own this fire station”? He had a great tour of the station Battalion Chief Newsome took him through the entire station and explain it all to him. He gave him a ride on a 1926 fire engine and let him climb the Ladder truck. He squirted the fire hose and looked at the “Jaws of Life”.
When we were done he wanted to go see his Mom and dad and tell them all about it. I think he really enjoyed it very much.
