"Happy 4th of July"

Image
Happy 4th of July to all of you, I hope that you are having a wonderful day. Pat and I are planning to go to the water front for the activities tonight. I know that it will be warm but it will be fun. They have about 8 vendors and a band for all to listen to. We will bring some lawn chairs and of course my camera. I will share some pictures with you on Sunday if they turn out. Well I did not wait until next week to install the new lights in the yard and on the house. I started about 8:30 AM and was done by 11:45 AM. Now I hope that they work the way I want them to. The yard light will come on at dark thirty and go off in the AM. The wall lights will come on by motion and stay on for 10 mins. I can’t wait to see if I hooked everything up correctly. My next project will be to put a ceiling fan in the garage. Darenda and her family are having their 4th out at the beach. Doug’s family has come to town and they are all together having a ball. Pat has been letting Bear out in the morning an...

The 4th is coming!

Image
Well we survived another week, well at least most of us. It seems that a good number of famous people have passed away this week. I was able to get a few things done today but nothing real important. But it kept me from sitting in front of the TV all day. I know that I am doing too much of that and it is not good for me. I mowed the yard this morning before it got to hot and muggy. I went to Lowes and purchased some items that will give me something to do next week. I also bought some bird feed and squirrel food, I love watching them eat. I am planning to change my outside lighting next week or this weekend. I want to start leaving the yard light on all night so my changes include saving energy, the big yard light will be changed to a fluorescent bulb and the two garage wall lights will be sensor type. I finally fixed a chair that has been broken for over a year. Man can I procrastinate things like that I am good at that. Not doing much for the 4th as it always really hot. We have been...

What a Difference a Day Makes!

Image
Today will be another day of changed plans for me. I was going to mow the yard and then pack the boat up and head for the Lake. The weather is going to get better as you can see by the pictures but the doc says ‘no mowing and no driving today”. I guess an explanation is due for that statement. Yesterday I had to just hang around and take some junk in preparation for some procedures to be done today. (No explanation needed there) Anyway all is well with test but Doc say's take it easy for the day. To complicate things yesterday I was walking in the garage with no shoes and hit my little toe on an object. Today its black and smarts a little as I walk around. I might slip outside while Pat is not home and put a little fertilizer down just in case it rains a little today. Well take care and have a great 4th and be a Blessing to someone today. Today’s verse is …..“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? "I the LORD search the heart and examin...

Another Lovely Day in Florida

Image
I woke up this morning with good intentions; as usual things don’t work out the way we plan. My intention was to get all my weed eating and edging done today so that I might get my mowing done on Thursday. Now that I am and old “Dude” I try to do it while it is cool and also do it in two phases. I use to go out there in the heat of the day and get it all done in one day, but those days are long gone for me. Of course I do have a selfish motive in getting it done prior to Friday. Pat and I would love to go over to the lake for the week end of the 4th. But the weather forecast really looks bleak for that plan, we will have to wait and see what happens. As you can see by the pictures the rain is looming over us. As I am writing this Blog I can hear the rain pelting the roof. I guess it will be another day of gloom, “Don’t ya just love this retired life”? I do, when I think I might be out in it having to work I am pleased not to be. Some of you folks who are reading this Blog can ...

Family Time..."Ya Gotta Luv It"

Image
I have been off the Blog for a while and have a good reason. My daughter Sandy and her husband James came down from Newnan, Ga for a nice visit with us. We enjoyed having them very much and tried to spend as much time as we could with them. Sandy and her mom did some girls things (shopping) and James and I hung out and did some guys things. On Sunday James and Sandy went to Mote Marine and Sarasota Jungle Gardens. It has been quite some time since Sandy has been there and it the first for James. Both seemed to enjoy is very much as they came back with grins on their face. We were able to go out to eat a few times which was fun. We had a great time on Sunday night as Pat and I took all our family out for supper. Sandy’s favorite restaurant is Demetrio’s; she went to school with the owner. We enjoyed having Sandy, James, Doug, Darenda, Tyler and Luke with us. It is not often that Pat and I are able to get our entire family together. As I grow older it is very important to me and I love i...

God Does Exist!

This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen... A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists." "Why do you say that?" asked the customer. "Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things." The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in...
