Paw Paws Place

The pictures that you see is two houses down from me. It is not a sink hole but it is a rather deep hole. We have a sewer leak in the main line which is 14 foot deep. Today it began to fill back up as the soil began to slide. It became very unsafe for the workers and they were removed from in side. They now have a much bigger pump draining the water. I was told it would take another day to complete the job. Last night while I was writing on my Blog the power went out. Of course with a battery operated laptop it never slowed me down. when I finished I went out to investigate to see what was up. Neighbors hollered at me and ask if my power was out also. One man wanted to know what I was doing (hooking up my generator) and I show him. He then began to blame the city for digging in the street and he thought caused it. Today the carpet was installed in out room, and it looks really nice. Pat has put some of the things back in the room but is not completely finished as you can see. We will be hanging some pictures and we have one more piece of furniture to put in. It is will be my job to clean it up and get it painted. I will try to get it done this week or this weekend. I was able to get the stitches out of my finger so I have no more excuses left. I think in my mind I milked this cut and I mean cut (minor) as long as I can. Even I will start laughing pretty soon when I look at it. I have found out that my Grandson Luke is doing a paper about his family and where they came from. I was able to find some pictures of where my father was born. So I am sharing them with you along with a picture of him when he was in his twenties. This has been an interesting week end for Pat and I. Seems as though our room will be finishing up this Tuesday with the installation of the carpet. And now, well now it seems that our AC unit is leaving us. Yesterday it froze up on the heat cycle and did not work, so last night we slept without heat. It really was not all that bad as it only was 61 in the house. That really made for great sleeping conditions. Today Pat and I loaded up with fire wood and hand split some oak. We are now prepared for whatever comes our way. Tonight is supposed to be even colder than last night. The pictures that you see were taken about 50 miles north of us. Next surprise is that I think we have to replace our garage opener, the whole enchilada. Looking at it I think that maybe Pat and I together can do it. Looking back now maybe Pat and I should have taken one more shot at having a boy. Think he would be offering to help if he existed? It is not to often that you will see a fire in my fire place, Sometimes I turn the AC down to 60 so I can light a fire. But this fire is for warmth, my feet and hands stay cold. The weather man has forecast 30 degrees to night with a hard freeze. To you folks up north I know that is a breeze. Let me tell you that in my yard that is too cold for "ole folks". My daughter Sandy who lives in Newnan Ga with her hubby James are really cold. She emailed and told me it was snowing and the low was 13. Yea for them, enjoy, enjoy I say....That snow you see is in their front yard. I think they might be colder than we are down here! But none of us are as cold as the little kitty that you see. Well it is another cold day here in sunny Florida. But not as cold as my daughter Sandy’s home is. She emailed me today telling me that it will snow at her home on Friday. OoooH I wish I could be there, “Yea right”! Got these pictures from my daughter Darenda who is out at the Rose Bowl. They went out to see the Nat’l Championship game. The picture includes some of her buds who went to Alabama with her. And of course her hubbie Doug who is in “Hog Heaven”. He is a real die hard Bama fan, but does not scream as loud as Darenda at the games. Pat has one more night of staying with the grand kids then its back to me. I miss her not being here but I know she loves being with the kids. And they really love having her there with them. I have to get ready for another club meeting tonight, that’s two in a row. The weather did not dip as low as they said it would, but it was cold. The weather man said it would get colder during the week. They even said that they might have snow in the panhandle. Got this picture from my daughter Sandy. James and Sandy went to the Sugar Bowl and had a great time. They said they want to go back to New Orleans and spend some time there. They had quite a busy couple of days. They went to the Chick Fillet Bowl to see Tenn play (James team) and then went down to the Sugar Bowl. Right now my youngest daughter Darenda is in Calif for the National Championship game. I heard from her this AM and they are having a ball. I am sure I will have some pictures to share soon. Still waiting for Pat to pick out carpet so we can finish the room. She has been so busy with the boys that it will have to wait. It will be nice when it is completed. Well the cold front has hit us, but not as hard as up north. I was able to have a fire in the fire place yesterday. Looking at my wood pile I need to move some from the main stock pile. The weather man says it will be in the 30's for the lows the rest of the week. "Hey coach" what do you really think about that 75 foot winning shot.
