Great Valentines Week
Pat and I along with our good friends the Gregory's (Gary & Harriet) went to the mountains for the week of "VALENTINE". Pictures and some comments will follow in this Blog.
The week end prior to us leaving our daughter Sandy and husband James spent the week end with us. They were going on their cruise and decided to spend the week end with us prior to leaving the Tampa port. We were delighted to have them stay here for a while as they live in Newnan Georgia. They both work for US Foods and work long and hard hours. A cruise once a year has to be soul healing and rest time for both. As you can see by the picture we were able to share James birthday while they were here. Pat picked the cake, chocolate is her favorite "duh", she is still having it for breakfast.
We took them to the ship Sunday afternoon and then came home and packed for our little vacation.
Monday morning we picked up the Gregory's at 9 AM. It is always a treat for Gary and I to stand aside and watch the girls pack the truck. You know what I mean guys....."this goes here...no it will fit better here" and so on...ha!
We drove to exit 218 in Georgia for the first night, that is the town McDonough. This first night set the pace for a wonderful trip with lots of fun and humor. We stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites which was very nice. After checking in we went looking for a nice restaurant for supper.
We found this great Bar B Que restaurant called O.B.'S, the food was great. Then we headed back to the hotel. We had inter-connecting rooms (the word inter-connecting is important) so we could visit comfortably. We decided we would just visit after we all showered and was relaxed. That is when all the fun began with our trip. The Gregory's come to our room about 30 minutes after we had came back from dinner. As we were sitting there talking a light bulb lit up in my head. I said, " Gary, you did make sure that your inter connecting door was not locked". He had this funny look on his face and said no..... He checked and found it locked tight as Dicks Hatband! I said no problem just go out and use your room key to get in the front door.....hummmm he said "got no key" its in the room. Well, no problem for Manatee grads....quick thinking prevailed. Gary called down to the desk and explained what had happened. No problem the young lady replied, I will be right up with a key and let you in. As she arrived Gary stepped out in his cute Jammie's and met the clerk and the picture below shows what happened next,
Yep....your are right! Gary had set the all night latch which could not be opened. There sat all the Gregory's cloths etc in their room tightly locked and protected ha... After about and hour or so Gary, me and the clerk Stacy working we were baffled how we were going to get in. Stacy mentioned the word Fireman being called to assist. That is when "Mighty Mouse" sprang into action. I went down to my truck and got a pair of channel lock pliers. I came back up the elevator looking like a maintenance man on a mission. I put the pliers on the bar lock and broke them apart......"just another rescue for an old fireman"!
Well I must say that the rest of the time went very well, I think that we spent our dime on the first night. Our cabin was very nice and the weather was so..so. It rained and snowed while we were there for the week. We had some friends come and visit us on Saturday, Phil and Ann Saylers. We had not seen them in some time so we enjoyed our time with them. I cooked sausage gravy and Pat made biscuits and Harriet made eggs the next morning. That is one thing we do, eat healthy....ha!
Our trip consisted of shopping eating and "oh yea shopping"! And yes a trip to the Bass Pro Shop! As you can see by the remaing pictures we did enjoy everything. We could not get the beautiful cat to come and eat with us but she did protect us.... As you also can see we had a crossword puzzle that Sandy gave her mom...geezzz was it ever so big. It is still not completed, but I am sure it will get done.
