Thanksgiving 2011

Image
Pat, Darenda, Luke and myself headed to the Blue Ridge mountains on Sunday the 20th. This was our first stop of the day, The state line of Georgia is where we stopped, great timing for a rest area stop. The next stop was lunch, we stopped a road side area and enjoyed a nice peaceful lunch in the GA fresh air. We arrived at our cabin about 4:30 that afternoon, the weather was great and we had a great relaxed evening. I called Terry Christie and ask if we could come and visit him the next day, which we did. After lunch Terry gave us a guided tour of some of Dalton. As you know is a history buff so we got a great tour. My grandson Luke was memorized by his talks and really enjoyed them. They knew the Gallo clan had come to town! This certainly was a meeting of the minds..... This is a Chapel that was built in the early 40's. Terry told us the the City Of Dalton was using it as a tool shed. They had made i a decision to tear it down........

Soccer Season is Over.

All Star Championship Team and Coaches. "Get out of my way, I have this one" "Look Ref" I did not do it ! Luke and a great knee shot! Tyler and Luke have finished their soccer season for the year this past weekend. Tyler's team came in second and Luke's team come in third. Luke was also selected for the all star team and they won their game for the championship 4-1, Luke scored 2 of the 4 goals. Tyler was selected to play for the team that was going to play against the coaches. Tyler had a conflict with that schedule and went to his church group program instead..'God Bless' him! Up next is flag football for Luke and maybe Tyler. Tyler has a chance to play Lacrosse which is a club sport at Manatee. Tyler went to a Lacrosse clinic in Virgina and enjoyed it very much. He Aunt Jill play Lacrosse in college so I am sure he could get some great advice. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and be Blessed. “Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to t...

WoW...That Time Again !

Image
Geeeeeez I can not believe that is is getting that time again. It just seems like four years ago we did this and now here it is again. After much encouragement from family and friends I have opened my campaign account up and have started putting my campaign together. I have a number of family members and friends that are helping me raise my money. That is the hardest thing for me to do, is to ask people for money. I am hoping for smooth sailing again this time as the older you get the more I wonder if I can still hang in there. I believe that I still have a deep passion for this city and her people. There are a lot of exciting changes on the horizon and I want to be part of it. I hope that my family an friends and especially my grandsons can set back and say, that they are proud of what I left. Well is is getting close to the time that the Florida South Carolina game starts....so I will see you later. Have a Blessed week! “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not ...

What Happend to Trick or Treat ?

Image
Top pictures demonstrate how things and people change. When this pool table first entered the Marvin's household it was a sacred place to play pool. Nothing would have been on that table but a few pool balls and maybe some $ bills. The second phase was that it was a good place to fold clothes. Now enter the world of Lego's, Dad would not dare move these Lego's for any reason or the world of Luke would come crushing in on him. Now, what happened to the scary people for Halloween? When I was a kid you dressed up as scary as you could. In my case just dressing like everyday worked for me. Luke lives and breathes the world of sports day and night, I guess that is a good thing. That night this is how he went trick or treating.....wow scary..for Fla fans anyway. Big brother Tyler got to stay home and pass out all the candy to the neighborhood kids. In my area the only kid that got candy from our bowl was me. Nary a one showed up at our front door.I am getting ready for another ...

I have found a new trade! (will not quit my day job)

During the week I noticed that some of my stucco was bulging a little. I took a putty knife and started to scrape a little off and continued until I scraped a lot off. I really had no idea what I was getting my self into but I found out quickly. The job was too small to call a stucco man and if he came he would have charged the heck out of me. So I took it upon my self to try and do the job myself. After the scraping I then painted a coat of concrete primer on it to help with the bonding and sealing. Then I began to stucco the next day, I could have done and will do a much better job next time. I really figured it out as I was finishing it up, but what the hay...did not cost me a bundle. As you can see I have now painted it and the new paint better hurry and fade or my neighbors will call code enforcement on me....ha I know you might ask, what the heck is that stuff, well it is another dish of tomato gravy over biscuits. A month or so ago I made tomato gravy using just plain diced to...

Rembering the past!

Image
This past week end I took a stroll down memory lane. I coached little league football in the 70's and now I get to look at finished products. The head coach that you see is John Cucci, I coached John when he was 9,10 and 11 years old. He then went on to star at Manatee High School and then played at Marion Military Institute in Alabama. I can remember coaching and watching John play and I always hope that coach Kinnan would like what was sent to him. I believe he did, as John did an excellent job for Manatee. I guess he never forgot what was taught to him in little league as he now coaches it. And I might say he is very successful as a coach as he is undefeated. Oh, John is a fashion breaker, check out the new coaching hat! I saw some familiar faces out there, Bob Gagnon who is the principal at Manatee HS. I also saw coach Rod Frazier, he must have been on a recruiting mission for Manatee...ha. Kathleen Cucci who is John's wife was also there. She is the beautiful red head s...

Fishing Time

Image
Yea, it was a great week end for Pat and I as the kids were out of school on Friday. As you can see we were able to get the boat in the water and have some fun. The weather man had said that the seas would be flat and very little wind blowing, yea right! You would think that by now I would know better than to believe those jokers. They have all these fancy machines that are perfect, right? For all the old Bradenton folks who remember Charlie Stump we know better. He could look out the window and predict the weather better than that. When we got out in the bay it was blowing 15 mph with small with caps. I put two anchors out so I could catch bait and they did not hold. So no Shiner’s were caught at all, that was ok because I would be unable to go where we normally go because of the weather. We ended up at Rattlesnake and the kids fished for BIG Pinfish. Tyler also caught a fair size Trout on a Mirror Lure. I think we caught about 17 really big Pinfish and the kids had fun. We saw a 5 ...
