This years trip to the mountains with Pat, Gary and Harriett Gregory started on February 12th. We started our venture by going to the Florida vs Tenn basketball game which was on Saturday at Gainesville. (Fla won !) Prior to the game we spent some time in the University Book store shopping (a must). Then we went to the famous restaurant called "The Swamp" for an early supper. After the game drove to Lake City to spend the night.
Sunday was a beautiful day to drive to the mountains and we left the Hotel about 9:30 that morning. We arrived at the rental office about 3;30 that afternoon to pick up the directions and keys to our cabin. The directions that they give you are very precise and we found the cabin with no problem. The cabin was not as big as we normally rent but it worked just find for all of us. The view was as nice as could be for this time of the year. As you can see it was basically the sunsets, as you can see by the photos. And yes, NO SNOW this year "Dad Burn,it"!
Our normal routine is sleeping in and taking our time getting started for the day. Our day consists of cruising around the mountains and shopping in a few of the small towns. Of course the eating is one primary function we all enjoy, we do mostly stay in at night and eat light. We all get a lot of down time down and get to read for hours with out any interruptions. On Valentines day Gary and I did takes our ladies out for a special Valentines supper. A nice little restaurant on the Toccoa River just out of Blue Ridge Ga.
We visited a few different towns that will have stories with them down the road. I will make this Blog in three parts, Part one is the cabin. Part two will be about the towns and a visitor that we had. Part three will be the interesting return trip home. so try and keep up.
