Thanksgiving Part 2

On Tuesday we met friends from Bradenton for lunch, Ron & Dawn Allen along with their son Levi. They have a home in Haysville NC, we met in between at Murphy NC. There is a little restaurant in Murphy call "Shoebooty's" that we like and that's where we ate.

We then went back to their new home to visit for a while, it is a beautiful home. When we left I stopped at my favorite used book store and bought several James Patterson books. (my favorite author)

Tuesday evening the rest of the Marvin's arrived, Doug and Tyler. The next morning was sausage gravy and biscuit time. The girls only ate biscuits and boring scrambled eggs. After Doug rested (as you can see) we planned a days outing.

We went to Copper Hill Tenn, which was known for ore mining in the early 30's. We watch a short slide show of its history and then a man spoke to ask and permitted us to ask questions. (it was quite interesting).
After that we visited the museum where we saw many old tools that were used for mining ore. We then headed for McCaysville and had lunch at a neat Mexican restaurant (the food was good). We then headed home for the day and rested up so Doug and the kids could play arcade games as you see and Pat could cook.

I will do part Three a little later in the week, That's when the rest of the family arrives.

Have blessed day and be a Blessing to someone.

“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” -John 6:35

Thanksgiving 2011

Pat, Darenda, Luke and myself headed to the Blue Ridge mountains on Sunday the 20th. This was our first stop of the day, The state line of Georgia is where we stopped, great timing for a rest area stop.

The next stop was lunch, we stopped a road side area and enjoyed a nice peaceful lunch in the GA fresh air.

We arrived at our cabin about 4:30 that afternoon, the weather was great and we had a great relaxed evening. I called Terry Christie and ask if we could come and visit him the next day, which we did.

After lunch Terry gave us a guided tour of some of Dalton. As you know is a history buff so we got a great tour. My grandson Luke was memorized by his talks and really enjoyed them.

They knew the Gallo clan had come to town!

This certainly was a meeting of the minds.....

This is a Chapel that was built in the early 40's. Terry told us the the City Of Dalton was using it as a tool shed. They had made i a decision to tear it down....."not on Terry's watch"! That was during the time that terry served on the city council in Dalton. (as you can see on the plaque) Terry made it his project to restore it, and they did and as you can see it is beautiful.

That is the first few days of our trip. The next portion is when the rest of the family show up, that will be another blog.

Have a Blessed day and be a Blessing to someone!

“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives” -2 Peter 3:10-11
