Fishing, Grandkids & Classmates

Our weekend started Friday morning with a fishing outing with our friends, Gary & Harriett Gregory. We went out about 8:30 AM and stayed until about 1:30 PM. The weather was not supposed to be all that great but it turned out really nice. we have had this pontoon boat about two years now. We really have not used it all that much but I think we will pick it a notch and start. We are getting older and time is really slipping away from us. I know there will come a time that I will not be able to throw the bait net and pull the anchor. I will have to rely on our grandsons to take us out. We did not have a very successful day getting bait as we should have. We netted a lot of small pin fish and we used them, but that is not the best. Pin fish are great Bait but they need to have some size to them. I should have spent some time looking for shiners, I found out late where some would be. Next time we will get out earlier and spend more time looking for good bait.
You can see that we were not skunked by any means. But the fun is being with good friends and being on the water. Catching fish means cleaning fish at the end of the day and that was not missed (by me) much at all. We spent most of the day at the mouth of the Manatee River and off of Rattlesnake point. We will ask the Gregory's again very soon to go again.
That Friday night the boys spent the night with us which is always fun. The next morning we got up late and by 10:30 we headed for the ball park. Luke had a baseball game at 11 AM and Tyler had a football game at the same time. Darenda and I went to Luke's game and Pat and Doug went to Tyler's game. Both boys had a stellar day, both winning their games and played well. Tyler plays a lot of defense and Pat said he made some great defensive plays. They won their game 43 - 35. The should make it to the playoffs this year and maybe win it all. Luke had his best game of the year as he played super. He was 2-2 at bat and played shortstop and never made an error and never let a ball get by him. They won the game 11-10 and it was their first win of the season. Next week we will do it all over again, hopefully with the same results.
Saturday night we attended my class reunion at the country club. We have been out of school 53 years now and meet every year. It is really nice to see everyone each year and tell lies, ha ha. It is also nice to see everyone is getting old like me. We did have a moment of silence for one of our classmates husband who passed away this past Friday night. Harold Floyd who married Mary Alyce Carter passed away, they had been married for 52 years. When we were in our thirties Pat and I use to spend a lot of time with them. Harold and I coached little league football and baseball together for many years. Pat and Mary Alyce were team moms and did all the hard work. His boys played and his daughter and my daughters were cheer leaders. It was a great time in our life and Harold will be missed by many people. Our heart goes out to Mary Alyce and the family...God Bless them.
The Gators had another great weekend, they swept the 9Th ranked LSU tigers three games. I think that Florida will break into the top 10 this week. At least I think that they should, we will see....
Be a Blessing to some today and be Blessed; “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” (1 John 5:14-15)
