Gods Creatures




Someone ask me the other day why I did not hunt anymore. For those who did not know, At one time in my life I would have rather hunted than eat. Let me see if I can explain why I quit hunting animals of all kind.




For those who have never hunted and taken the life of one of Gods creatures will understand this. For those who still hunt and enjoy it you may not. For me it just not work anymore and this is why.




Both my daughters love animals as my wife does also. They both have pets in their homes. During the years I became really attached to the very first pet that Darenda had. His name was Bowers and he was the the coolest dog. I watched him grow up and I saw him get old. sandy had a dog named Garth who also I saw grow up and get old. When I would look at these beautiful a animals I would say to myself, how? How could anyone take the life of one of Gods creatures like I did? Now I have nothing against others doing it, it just did not work for me anymore.

' Project is finished"!






When I put the pictures up you will see the final touches in the room. We hung the pictures that will compliment Pats coke collection. Ok now what; a new project must be on the way. I am thinking about doing some changes in the master bed room. These pictures show an area that I will change a little. I have many books that need to be on a book shelf as you can see. I am thinking of closing the big opening you see and have book shelves on one side and a cork board on the other. The cork board will serve as a place for me to put notes of reminders. I write notes now but I can never find where I place them. Certainly should be able to find the board (I hope). Now for all of you who are reading this and say, "Where are the pictures"? Here is the secret, I am at work and have not taken the pictures yet. When I get home I will take some and put them on the Blog. So now if you are a true reader you will check in after lunch.

Last night was one of our meeting nights for the City Council. Not too much going on these days so I was able to get home and watch some of the Gator BB game. Gators beat Georgia 87-71 so the night was not a total loss. I woke up at 3:45 AM this morning and could not go back to sleep. It is going to be a long day for me as I am struggling to stay awake. It seems as I got older that sleep is not something that works well for me. The doctor likes to have you take sleeping pills but I am not a fan of them. So I go many nights without sleeping very much or well. I know that it will catch up with me and I will deal with it.

Just Thinking...Hummmm!
























Looking at the walls in my office I am at a total loss as what to do with all that stuff when I retire. Wait, I know, I will not retire just croak in office and let Pat worry about it.

Seriously when I first was elected to office I had put four Deer heads on the wall. My pride and joys from my deer hunting for years. But "Bam" my first encounter with animal lovers and I lost.

I did not take me long to discover the art of keeping voters happy. So that is what I did, down came the deer heads and up went stuff. Well after 18 yrs in office you can see that the stuff grew. Also you can see that I keep my book shelf real nice and neat, just like Pat raised me. Oh well she had to fail at something in her life, I guess I fit that picture.



I can not believe that I have been retired from the FD over 18 yrs. It just seems so much that I was still answering alarms last year or so. But when I see how these two boys have grown it blows me away. Tyler is 13 and will be in High School next year, "Good Lord" can you believe that? I am sure that Manatee is not ready for him yet! I know I am not ready for him to go either, I am sure Mom and Dad are really thinking, "WHAT"? Girls, cars and all that fun stuff is coming his way (lucky dog). Look at that picture, is he going to break some hearts or not ? I just hope that God wraps his ever loving arms around him ( Luke too) and protects him. Today's time is a real hard time to grow up in, hopefully parents understand that and act and teach accordingly.



Then there is Luke, as his dad refers to him "shorty". He is a bundle of get up and go and really goes. He is enjoying his time in sports, he will be play baseball shortly. He can be so serious sometimes that it will startle you. I sometime wonder how long I will get the opportunity to hang around and watch them grow up. But I know that is in Gods hands and he knows best, might be some things I don't want to be around for. Right now they are what I live for and love to see them and be around them. I wish I had the energy that Pat has with them, she goes and goes. Well enough of the serious stuff have a wonderful and Blessed day and be a Blessing to someone.

One More Addition to the room

Well we have added one more item to our room, little by little we are getting there. I think the only things left are some pictures and etc to be hung on the walls. It has really made a real nice room and I hope that when the summer comes it will be cool. that was the main reason we did all of this in the first place. As you remember we removed our oak tree and the shade was gone, so was the cool room.

Pat and I had a nice week end with not a whole lot going on. We did not go to our Sunday School party, things just did not work out. We opted for a night out with dinner and a movie. Well now that sounds pretty fancy doesn't it? With this family it was supper at Chic Fillet at the mall and the movie was the $2 senior. Ha, last of the big spenders, I leave no rock unturned when it comes to treating my bride.

Saturday we hung the drapes and the did very little the rest of the day. That night we had the kids and Pat spent much of her time with them. I watched the Gator basketball game and finished a book that I have been reading.

Sunday we went to church and then out to lunch with the Newsomes. Got home in time to see the Gator girls play basketball and then watch the NFL playoffs. I think we watch too much TV but what the hey. I spent some time on the Gator web site for Manatee County, as I do the site for the club. My handy work can be seen at www.manateegatorclub.com. I really enjoy doing it as it keeps my mind doing something. At my age that seems to be important, I think!
