Having Fun on Saturday Morning !

This morning I was smart and got out in the yard and worked before it got to humid and hot. At 8:30 I was behind the lawnmower and cutting the grass. It takes about 30 minutes so it is not all that bad. Pat and Luke were playing in the yard last night and the Frisbee landed on the roof. I thought about that after I mowed the yard and up I went and found it for them. While I was there I noticed my gutters needed cleaning, that’s a job for another day. To finish up my chores I clean the AC drain of all that mucus looking stuff.

Out with the old in with the new as you can see with the new oak tree. I traded gift certificates with my daughter, She had the tree and I had one for running shoes. The tree looked like less exercise for me. I can safely say that I will be long gone before this tree grows big enough to give me a hassle. The next person can worry with it.

"Friends Are ForEver"

What a wonderful day today was for me and Pat. We headed to the cracker Barrel in Lakeland today to have lunch with some great friends. We met Chief John Wright, better known as “Jake’ and his beautiful bride Bert better known as Ms Bert!

We just had a great time visiting and talking about old times. We laughed at times until tears flowed. Jake was with the City of Jacksonville and retired from there to become Chief in DeLand. We have been friends for many years he was my mentor. Everything I learned that was good he taught me, I should have run for President of the USA. John’s forte was training and he lived and loved it throughout his career. He once came to my Dept when I was chief and pretended to be a person to grade us. When he was done my men almost all left they were so scared. It took me a month to convince them he was joking. Anyway it was wonderful for all of us.

The C-PAC work great last night, finally had some sleep.

Sleep, Sleep..I want some!

Today was my monthly breakfast with guys I went to school with. We meet at First Mate in Bradenton; John Elliott came from Plant City to be with us today. We had a great time at our end of the table as health and whatever was the topic.
After I ate I went to city hall for a short visit as this is that last day of the week for us. (4 day work week) I answered a few emails and discuss a water use program that we are looking at with Lakewood.
Came home early so Pat could go to her luncheon with my female classmates, they meet on the same day. (We had the kids) She always looks forward to it I think she knows all of them better than I do.
After that I went to Sarasota to get my C-Pac sleeping machine. I had one for a while but gave up on it. My heart doctor told me to get my butt down there and get with the program. I will try very hard this time because I am really having trouble sleeping and getting rested. I hope that it works this time, I want it too.
Have a Blessed day and be a Blessing to someone. Connie you are in my prayer’s…….love ya!

Pressure Wash This !!!!

Wow I finally got some sleep last night, even if I had to do it with meds it was worth it. Poor Luke is still having flu problems and continues to run a fever. Darenda is going to take him back to the doctor today. With school starting on Monday they sure have to nip it in the bud.
Tyler is at his golf lesson and his grand ma is with him. I had to go to City Hall this morning to finish up some work on the budget. I have made an appointment for an oil change for my truck and I need a haircut. So that might be my plight for the day.
If I am able I do want to finish pressure washing the neighbor’s fence. The house is in foreclosure and I have to look at a badly mildewed fences so I will clean it.
17 days left for the Gator count down for the 1st game of the year. Other than it is going to be hot I am excited. The first game will be at 7 PM but it still will be warm. Last year when we played Miami it was at 8 PM and I had to leave early because of the heat. I hope that does not happen this year again. If they would let you bring in a baggie full of water with the neck wraps in it that would work. But I know that will never happen, they would think it was Vodka.

Golf With Tyler

Today started off with a normal bang as I awoke about 3:30 AM and could not go back to sleep. Tyler spent the night with us last night and I told him last night that we would play golf. I sure did not feel like it but we did go and I had a great time. This is only my second time to play in a year and a half (it shows). We played at River Run Golf course and you can tell that there has been too much rain out there. I not sure but Tyler might have enjoyed driving the cart as much as playing. I hope that I or his dad will take him out at least once a week. The pro did tell me that he will have class lessons on Saturday’s so I hope T will be interested.

Flu Time

Not much going on today, seems as though the summer has caught up with me and my projects.
Pat took Tyler for his golf lessons; he is coming along very well with his game. His brother Luke has come down with the Flu this week end. You know me, that kind of things scares the hect out of me. I called Darenda and suggested that she take him to the Clinic to be sure it was not the Swine Flu. Grand Parents, what a pain I know! The older we get the bigger pain in the rump we are….at least me! But I do LOVE them boys…….
City hall was very quiet today, continued budget discussions. Tonight I will have a peaceful night, might even grille out. Yea right might?...Pat has already taken out something for me to grille. The next two nights I will be doing something early in the night. Two meetings to attend, Gator Club directors meeting and Sporting Foes group. (Just a group of sport nuts).
You have a Blessed day and be a blessing to some today. Today’s verse is “But, "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.”- 2 Corinthians 10:17-18

Slow Weekend!

Not much going on this week end, very quiet and peaceful. On Saturday I went fishing with Bob Sweat and Wayne Lang in the morning. The only thing I caught was the bait, the weather was nice and we had a good time. That evening Pat and I went to a birthday party at the First Methodist Church in Palmetto. One of my school buddies turned 70 years old.
Sunday we went to church and the out to lunch with the Newsome family. Pat and I have been sitting around being lazy and watching golf.
Monday morning I will take Tyler for another golf lesson in the morning. Then I will go see what the City of Bradenton is doing.
Have a Blessed day and be a Blessing to someone today. Today’s verse is….“Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.”- 2 Corinthians 7:1
