Saturday Door Fix'in Time




What a beautiful day today is, no rain and not really too warm. Yesterday was enjoyable as we had Luke spend the night with us. I made a big pot of spaghetti sauce and meatballs so we had a great supper. Luke ate like a champ; he had a piece of bread two meatballs and a bowl of spaghetti. After supper we played on the floor with my golf ball collection. He made up some game that I lost at (of course)! We each had a bowl of strawberry ice-cream and watch some kiddies’ show on TV.
This morning was my day to again try and fix the leak at the back door. I was not very successful the other day as it continued to leak. I hope this time that I am successful as I have run out of ideas.
The painting that you see is one that my daughter Sandy painted. She is so talented, she does pottery and paintings. I wish that she would really get serious about this hobby. Who knows what it might lead to? She has a great Blog that she does and has some links to her art and stuff. The Rain is Coming! (again)




I slept in till 7:30 this morning so I got a late start on my yard work. By the time I drank two cups of coffee, ate a weight watchers bagel and read the local mullet wrapper (what a waste) it was a little after 9 A.M.
When I started my yard work I felt a little drop of rain here and there. Then it got to the point I thought it was going to catch me, but I won. I was able to get all my yard work done and blew off the drive way. The morning shower was only the one that I took after I finished mowing. But I am sure that it will rain today again. The news paper said we have a 60% chance that it will rain. (they can’t be wrong, can they?).
As you can see by the picture of Tyler that he is in hog heaven being with his grandparents in Va. Do you think that he gets spoiled up there, look at the new skate board. Now don’t think that Tyler or his brother are immune from being spoiled here either. Luke really misses his big brother, yesterday he cried that he misses him.
Darenda called last night to ask her mom to go to supper with her and Luke. Pat said that she had just eaten the supper that I had made (yummy). Luke cried, he wanted he Maw Maw to go, so off she went. She did tell me that she only had a diet Sprite while they ate.
Today I will finish up my Web Site stuff for the gator club and then I will enjoy some quiet time reading. I am trying to finish up “The Associate” by J. Grisham.
Tonight we will have our little buddy Luke over for supper and to spend the night as his parents get a night out.

" July Shower's"




July shower's, come on down all day long as we need them badly. This morning which is my watering day was almost a bad day for me. when I awoke this AM my wife informed me that the sprinklers had not been on during the night. Our yard is so dry that I was afraid of a grass fire, so needless to say not watering for another week would not set well with the Gallo's. But as you can see the Lord knew how to bail me out. Also I get to see if the back door leak that I fixed yesterday was successful or not.
Since it rained all day I was able to get some computer work done after lunch. We had a Gator Club meeting last night and as Web Master I had some work to get done. Now that I am Blogging I will be done with everything that was scheduled.
I am now going to start cooking supper, Pat wants some Jambalaya for supper tonight so I will make it.

Another Project day!











Today was project day for me as I had a few to get done. I went to City Hall today and met with our City Clerk and discussed the upcoming budget meeting. It will be a bleak meeting as we are really in a crunch.
After the meeting I went to Lowes to get a sealant for my back door which has been leaking during the rains. After lunch I went over to get a hug and say good bye to my grandson Tyler. As I said yesterday he is going on a two week vacation with his other grandparents.
I came home and repaired the leak, I hope! I went into my garage and looked at a shelve that I have been looking at for months. It was a disaster for clutter. As I went through it I found junk that I did not know I still had, have not seen it in 20 years. So I filled up my garbage can with junk. I hope they don’t look into the can before they dump it. I also took a picture of the additional fan I put in the garage on Tuesday. I have got to do what I can to make it cool in there.

"Don't believe the weather report!"




Tyler our oldest grandson is leaving Wednesday for two weeks. He is going to spend some time with his Marvin Grandparents in Virgina. I know that they will enjoy having him and he will enjoy being there with them. I did a very poor job of taking a picture of him today, he is of the age when cameras are no longer fun time to pose for.
Pat and I decided to take him fishing prior to his leaving for his vacation. I checked the paper for a boating forecast and it looked good. It stated 10 mph winds with a light chop. So all aboard we went and off to the bay we headed. Well much to my surprise it was and extra high tide and the wind was blowing 20+ mph and we had a good chop. This limited our spots to fish, we could not go to our favorite grouper hole. I tried a few places that I knew would be out of the wind. The picture that you see the Sunshine Skyway is called McGills bay. Well a bay it was, but without fish that would bite. We did have a good time as Tyler loves his one on one time with Pat. They listened to Rock music on the boat radio and discussed the songs. Of course Pat knew most of the songs and that tickles Tyler to no end. Pat and Sandy saw quite a few of the bands during the time they were all hot. Me, I just listened to it all, I am a country music kind of guy. It was nice to be with Tyler as he is growing up way too fast. I reminded him of the times when we would take him to Lake Okeechobee and he would sit on my lap and look at a fish book. We would be fishing but he wanted to learn all the names of the fish. I never realized how much I really did enjoy those times.
We hope to take Luke out while Tyler is gone. I hope we catch a better brake on the weather than today.

"Lukes Day with Maw Maw"


Today is grandson Luke's day to be with his Maw Maw, he loves it and Maw Maw loves it more. You can just barely see it but he is playing with Sand Castles that his Aunt Sandy left. He had been playing games on the computer but became somewhat bored (don't blame him). His brother will be leaving for a two week vacation with his Marvin Grandparents this week. Luke goes to a summer time preschool program 3 days a week, and he loves it. He has many friends that attend also, so it is like and all day play day for him. Paw Paw gets a little action as I try and teach him the game of Chess.

When I look at my family, wife Pat, daughters and grandsons, I realize just how blessed I am.

Well not much going on today, too hot to piddle outside. I will be riding my exercise bike this afternoon. I hope to get at least 5 miles done, that is not much but for this old man it is enough.

" The Day after the 4th"!











We had a great time at the Bradenton City waterfront watching the fireworks last night. As you can see we were there before the sun set. Also you can that there was a good crowd on the City Hall lawn waiting to watch the fireworks. As it got dark the crowd grew much more than you see in this photo. I was able to take a few photos of the fireworks but nothing to brag about. The show only lasted about 30 minutes. The cost is shared by the cities of Bradenton and Palmetto. With budget constraints as they are 30 minutes is about all we could afford this year. Getting out of downtown and getting home took us 30 minutes which is not as bad if we were on the Island.
I finally found out what NASCAR stands for. This definition is for all my race friends out there. NASCAR=”Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks”! Oh well new enemies will arrive at my Blog…ha.
